Offline or Mobile Version of Preceden

Preceden can currently only be used from the website. There is no downloadable desktop version.

Preceden provides a basic interface for editing your timeline's content on a phone. For the full experience, including the timeline visualization itself, you need a tablet or larger screen.

Viewing is less restricted than editing. A timeline you share a link to lists its events on a phone, though the visualization itself only appears on a wider screen, and an embedded timeline shows an image of the visualization above that list.

What the editor drops on a narrow screen

The editor adjusts at two widths.

Below 1024 pixels, which covers phones and a lot of tablets, the toolbar keeps Add Event, Add Layer, and Share, and hides AI Suggestions, Bulk Editor, and Appearance. Those three need the room, so they reappear as soon as the window is wide enough.

Below 768 pixels the visualization goes as well, replaced by a note saying you need a larger screen to see it. The History link beside the timeline name is hidden at this width too.

What is left is the list of layers and events underneath, and it is fully editable: tap an event's name, date, or color to open it, or tap a layer name to open the layer. So a phone is a reasonable place to add an event or fix a date you noticed was wrong. Deciding how the timeline looks, importing a spreadsheet, and checking the result before you export it all want a desktop.
