Innersloth released MIRA HQ, the second map for Among Us, set in a corporate headquarters building. It introduced tighter corridors and new tasks that changed gameplay dynamics.

The Polus map, the third map in Among Us, arrived in November 2019. Set on a frozen research planet, it featured outdoor areas, weather stations, and unique mechanics like the Vitals monitor.

Innersloth revealed The Airship, a massive new map based on the Toppat Clan airship from The Henry Stickmin Collection, as a surprise announcement during The Game Awards 2020.

Popular Twitch streamer Sodapoppin began streaming Among Us in July 2020, drawing large audiences and inspiring many other content creators to pick up the game during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the pandemic lockdowns, Among Us became a phenomenon on Twitch and YouTube as streamers like Corpse Husband, Disguised Toast, and Pokimane popularized it. Player counts exploded from hundreds of thousands to millions of concurrent players.

SuperData reported that Among Us had over 500 million monthly active players in November 2020, making it briefly one of the most-played games in the world and surpassing even Fortnite's mobile figures.

Among Us finished 2020 as the most downloaded mobile game worldwide across both the App Store and Google Play, with hundreds of millions of downloads accumulated during the year.

Among Us won Best Multiplayer Game and Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2020, cementing its status as the breakout hit of the year despite launching more than two years earlier.

US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez streamed Among Us with popular streamers including HasanAbi and Pokimane to encourage voting, drawing over 400,000 concurrent viewers and demonstrating the game's mainstream cultural reach.
