Collapse and expand layers

Collapse a layer to hide its events and focus on the other layers.

Click the up/down arrow beside the layer's name on the timeline:

An animation of a three-layer timeline where clicking the arrow beside the Business layer name collapses its events, then the same click collapses the Manufacturing layer

If you don't see the arrow, either the layer has no events yet or it is the only layer showing on your timeline.

Preceden remembers which layers you collapse, so they stay collapsed the next time you open the timeline, and anyone who can edit the timeline sees them collapsed too.

Exports and shared links are not affected: every layer appears expanded when you export your timeline as an image or PDF, and when someone opens a link you shared.

To hide a layer from everyone, use the Hide Layer feature.
