Add Team Members to Your Account
A team plan puts several people on one Preceden account. Everyone signs in with their own account, and everyone on the team can work on all of the team's timelines, including the ones the other members create.
That makes it different from collaboration, which shares one timeline with someone who does not need a plan of their own. A team plan shares every timeline on the account. See Plans and Pricing for which plans include more than one user.
Open Your Team Page
Click Account at the top of the page, then Manage Your Team. That menu item appears only on plans that include more than one user.
The Your Team page opens with a line saying how many team members your plan supports, counting you, followed by a table of everyone on the team. You are the first row, listed as the Account Owner.
Invite Someone
Under Invite a Team Member, enter the person's email address and click Send Invitation. Preceden emails the invitation immediately and the page confirms that it went out.
Their row shows their email address and a status: Invited until they answer, then Accepted or Declined. Each team member's row gives you a Remove link, plus Resend Invitation while the invitation is still unanswered. Your own row has neither.
How the Seats Work
Every row on the list takes up one of your seats whether the person has answered or not, so an invitation nobody acted on still holds a seat until you remove it. The Invite a Team Member form disappears once the seats are full. Remove a row you no longer need to free the seat, or email [email protected] to buy additional licenses.
What the Person You Invite Sees
They get an email with the subject "your email address has invited you to join their team on Preceden".
- If they already have a Preceden account, the Review Invitation link in that email opens a page naming you and asking whether they want to join. They can also reach it from Account > Settings, where it appears as Review Your Pending Team Invitation in case the email goes astray.
- If they do not have a Preceden account yet, the Accept Invitation link opens sign-up with their invited address already filled in.
Accepting works in both directions: you get full access to all of their current and future timelines, and they get the same access to yours. Any folders they had already created move to your account at that point, so the whole team can see them.
When an Invitation Is Refused
Two messages can come back instead of a sent invitation:
- Email belongs to someone who is already on a team. Nobody can be on two teams at once. You also see this when you have already invited that address, because the invitation sitting on your list still counts.
- Email needs to belong to someone else. The address you entered is the one on your own account, and you are already on the team as its owner.
Remove Someone
Click Remove on their row and confirm. Removing someone who has not answered yet cancels their invitation, so its link stops working. For someone who accepted, the shared access ends in both directions and the timelines they created in their own account stay theirs. Folders they brought with them when they joined do not go back: those stay on your account. Either way, the seat is available again straight away.
